Twin Vertical Plates, otherwise known as TVPs, are the form of chassis utilised by the Savage. They consist of two vertical plates of machined metal which encase the major drivetrain components, radio system and engine. TVPs are one of the most commonly available after-market parts for the Savage. Many incorporate thicker, extended designs with lower centers of gravity.

Official TVPs

21/25

The original Savage TVPs were composed of untreated 2mm thick aluminium alloy.

X

The X TVPs were created with an X logo worked in to the design, grey anodising, and the transmission and engine mount points were lowered 5mm to lower the center of gravity.

XL

The XL TVPs were similar to the X design but with an 53.5mm extended tail section, pushing the rear bulkhead further beyond the engine.

Flux

The Flux TVPs were similar to the X design but with modifications to accommodate the electric motor mount and battery box mounts.

5T

The 5T TVPs were similar to the XL TVPs but extended much further to 5th scale length.

After-market TVPs

Common properties of after-market TVPs

  • Increased strength - Most are made from 4mm+ thick high grade aluminium alloy. Generally TVPs of this standard will never bend or tweak.
  • Low center of gravity - Lowering components in the chassis such as the transmission and engine will reduce body roll and increase cornering speeds.
  • Extensions - Extended chassis can have superior balance during jumping and will drastically cut longitudinal roll (for example, wheelies)
  • Add-ons - Most products offer matching parts or kits to add functionality such as mid tank kits or skid plates.

Fast Lane Machine

Fast Lane Machine offers 4.7mm thick 6061 aluminium TVPs in regular length LCG and 40mm extended LCG formats. The TVPs are machined in an intricate design with bevelled edges and are available with clear or black anodizing. The design incorporates many mounting holes for various mid-tank options. Also available are a matching engine plate, mid tank plate and skid plate.

Innovative RC

Innovative RC offers 4mm thick 6061 aluminium TVPs in regular length LCG and 31mm extended LCG formats. The extended format is unique in that it distributes the extension - 1 inch at the rear and 6mm between the transmission and radio box. This design offers superior balance, although requires an aftermarket throttle and brake linkage. IRC TVPs are generally considered the strongest available of the major TVPs. The TVPs are available in clear or black anodizing. Innovative RC also offer engine plates, skid plates, roll bars, and full mid tank kits that fit their TVPs.

Platinum RC

Platinum RC offers 4mm thick carbon fiber TVPs in regular length LCG and 38mm extended LCG formats. PRC also offer engine mounts, mid tank plates, skid plates and roll bars to fit their TVPs.
