Mini electric truck....

Looking to get a mini electric truck for my son. Havent really been into electric (much less anything MINI size), so I figured Id ask what the recommendations are.  Originally I was thinking Mini-LST but now Im reading about some issues with them (flimsy plastic wheels, etc).  Since my son takes aft...

Re: Curious about Tower Hobbies RC trucks.....

Yeah wasnt looking for another truck, like I said just curious.  Like you said, not a bad truck for beginners, or even for people that just putz around with their RC vehicles.  If that were the case though, Id be looking at electric (more fun vs repair/tune time).

Re: Curious about Tower Hobbies RC trucks.....

Sure! But it doesnt help too much, if you read the list it sounds like a Savage.  Maybe it is. Who knows.  Specs still dont show quality of the thing as a whole, or even the parts.

Curious about Tower Hobbies RC trucks.....

Looking thru my Tower catalog today, they obviously prominently promote their own products (Tower Terror monster truck). I was wondering.......are they any good?  Im very content with my Savage, just wondering if the Tower stuff is decent.  Seems to be the most discounted stuff in their catalog, but...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

Its an airtronics servo.  The wire doesnt come out all the way at the bottom, rather its about 1/4" above the bottom of the servo case (which might explain why it hits the mount).  I actually had my own custom mounts out of aluminum bar stock, I could use one of those or possibly try to cut a notch ...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

You see the red/yellow/black wire coming out of the back of your servo?  Mine hits the plastic servo mount thats holding up the rear of the servo. Im wondering if I can swap the servo mounts front and back (according to the instructions with the kit, you are supposed to use the larger [taller] servo...

Re: HUmp Pack - Help Me Out

The reason hump packs are 5 cells vs 4 is that NiMH rechargable cells (and NiCD too)  are 1.2V each, vs 1.5V each of standard alkaline batteries.  The size of the cells used in hump packs are available in a variety of maH ratings, but as long as you look at the same size factor cell, you can get all...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

Not trying to resurrect the dead, but finally got to install most of my midtank kit from IRC. I love it........makes my home made midtank mod look terrible (which I always thought looked terrible anyway :) ).  Opted for the gigantic 250cc tank and RX box underneath the tank plate.  Very clean look a...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

I figured you were on top of it :) As long as the tight fit near the output shaft hex is normal, then so far Im good to go. Luckily I have X bulks and IRC TVPs so hopefully I shouldnt run into any more issues (BTW, is the hole being "off" as mentioned in this thread a result of the stock non-X bulk ...

Re: New products from Innovative?

Have you seen the other thread about the mid tank mod? Are there any fixes needed/expected for parts that are already out in the wild?

Have the parts for the kit changed any?

Thanks.

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

I think the issues is only with the 6mm x 1" Tvp version, i managed to get the little blighter all in. i dont run a roll bar due to haveing a fibershell, and its the savage X towers/diff that cant be used with a rota start INNOVATIVE-RC Have so may versions of their tvps it must be hard to test all...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

Re the fuel tank plate: Rob sent me a new one in the mail, so look out for yours. Included was a note stating they found an issue with using the original plate with the 1"/6mm TVPs. So it looks like that issue should be taken care of.

Sure would be nice if the RX box issues were fixed too.

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

Glad to know Im not nuts :) I thought the box looked a little crooked when I tried to line the screw holes up with the holes on the TVPs. Definitely looks like the RX box holes need to be lowered a little bit (probably closer to 3mm than 2mm). I hope Rob is watching :) I dont need to have fixed part...

Re: Innovative mid tank mod....

Its a very close fit bud, i removed the plastic surround from the drive cup, but to be on the safe side i took the dremel and sanded the curve in the reviever box slighty just to be on the safe side. But i will take any excuse to get the dremel out lol  I found the same. Also coultn't mount t...

Innovative mid tank mod....

Anyone else get this kit yet? I was wondering.........is the fit of the steering/receiver box supposed to be REALLY close to the output hex of the transmission? It doesnt hit (I can remove the hex so it must not be stuck), but its really really close! Just making sure this is by design. Thanks. -Chris

Re: New products from Innovative?

Which charging jack and switch did you use? I tried doing this with the Rush battery box, and I was only (barely) able to fit the switch in. If I could get the charging jack up front Id be set!

Good thing I ordered the mid tank with the Firestorm battery box bracket :)

Thought I read (in the "New products from Innovative" thread) that IRC may be coming out with aluminum quick access diffs.

They gonna start costing me an awful lotta $$$!!!!

Re: IRC Roll Cage?

A question - Most of the complexity in building one is heating the delrin to bend it, cant a cage just be made out of delrin sheets cut into pieces that are fastened together? one of the DIY ones (thats basically one sweeping piece of Delrin) seems to be just that........cut a shape out of a sheet o...

Re: New products from Innovative?

I agree on the TVP price, although I think the only problem I had with the price was that they are actually pretty heavy for what they are. I was contemplating FLM TVPs vs IRC, and the IRCs were a better deal (at the time, one of the kits from IRC was on sale, making the price very close to the equi...
